I love novels by Patricia Cornwell - the coroner Kay Scarpetta, her faithful companion Pete Marino (overweight, chain-smoking, rude) - her niece Lucy - computer genius, which reminds me a little of Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth Salander. I read all the books in the summer and have now discovered another American author, Kathy Reichs also writes about a female forensic Tempe. I am looking to start and hope that she is just as good!? Some reviewers say that Kathy Reichs has long since overtaken Patricia Cornwell as a writer? Greetings Susanne, Bookaholic
My view of the two is that Patricia Cornwells books contain sim city a coherent background story-line (on her family, etc.), as she now seems to have written themselves out in. Perhaps that is why, praising her first books, but think the rest is not so good. Kathy Reichs books, however, are more isolated, with only the main character is the same (ie without the continuous background story). It's probably sim city easier to go to (as a writer).
