Big band music school Velenje was created in May 2008 on the initiative of the principal,

prof. Boris verses, under the artistic direction of mag. Ota Vrhovnik and has successfully performed as early as next month. The first band played mainly high school art students and professors. In the school year 2008/2009 the band started with regular exercises under the baton of Prof.. Jani ŠULIGOJ, which he still runs today. Young musicians at the school gaining a formal musical education, with the participation of the orchestra the opportunity to meet fun, especially swing and Latin music. Playing in the jazz orchestra required - unlike classical orchestra - a different style approach, in particular, are encouraged musical creativity, in the sense of jazz improvisation. The program consists of music giants of jazz and contemporary Slovenian authors.
