Map Maker helps to improve accuracy and track real world changes through

Google says that it has been working on new imagery rendering techniques and computer vision that automates the creation of 3D cityscapes. This 3-dimensional world will be complete with buildings, terrain and landscaping from 45 degree aerial imagery.
The company hopes to have 3D coverage of metropolitan areas with a combined population of 300 million people. A PC version is also on its way but Google says that this will take a little longer as compatibility issues with the new algorithims and graphics remain.
There are some places 10 day weather where you just cannot drive, including conservation sites like the Grand Canyon and so Google technicians have been out with some rather 10 day weather strange luggage to capture this photographically.
Underground train users rejoice, Google has also announced that its maps will be available offline for Android users in more than 100 countries in the next few weeks. The maximum size of offline files is about 50MB but many examples will be smaller than that, so hopefully this won’t be something that will break the average user’s 10 day weather data cap.
Offline files should be large enough to cover a metropolitan area. Google says the offline service can provide a map about the size of the San Francisco Bay Area and that the detail will come down to street level. Pinning down accuracy in new places
Accuracy is naturally a key element and so Google is also expanding Map Maker . Having already launched in South Africa 10 day weather and Egypt, ten more countries will be able to make use of the service in the next few weeks including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland.
Map Maker helps to improve accuracy and track real world changes through ‘Report a Problem’ where users can add notes and tips where change is needed. It seems that Google is getting everywhere, from the bottom of canyons, to your pocket under the ground. It appears to be inescapable for monitoring (excluding 10 day weather Germany in part) but then again, will be find it too useful to say no?

« map minecraft Google Earth A to Z: Pretty map minecraft Earth, Places, Panoramio and the Plug-in | Main | Viewing California emissions in Google Earth » August 22, 2012 A virtual trip down Route 66 with Google Earth and Street View
It's not just a quick fly-by, though. He's taking his time "driving" down the road, connecting with locals via Google+, and sharing ideas, photos and restaurant suggestions as if it was a real journey. map minecraft By literally working through map minecraft all of the Street View imagery map minecraft along the way, he's treating it as if it was an actual trip. For example, he mentions how a bunch of segway map minecraft riders were following him around for a while, so he "ditched" them on his way toward Soldier Field.
It's certainly a unique

way to travel down a highway, and only recently possible thanks map minecraft to the ever-expanding Street View coverage. His first post is a great example, as he describes sights found in Street View, shares the "road trip" music he was listening to, and makes up a story to go with it.
He's nearly a month into the journey and just a fraction of the way to Los Angeles, so the end result map minecraft could be quite a comprehensive look at Route 66 through the eyes of the Street View camera. You can follow his entire journey via Google+

by using the #jgroute66 hashtag.
While his trip is something most of us wouldn't do, it helps to show the power of Google Earth and Street View when you want to explore a new area. When meeting a client at a location that I'm not familiar with, I almost always pull it up via Earth and Street View so I can have a good idea of what I'm looking for. As image quality continues to improve in both products (not to mention the new 3D Imagery ), this will become an even more useful thing to do.
I work for Los Angeles Metro, Transportation in the Telecommunications department. We maintain Micowave site at different mountain tops. I like to know if is posible to view our sites in real time using Google Earth. map minecraft

A few years ago, Google pushed out some Street battlefield 3 beta download View updates that gave them at least a little bit of coverage on every continent on the planet. The coverage in Antarctica wasn't a very large area, but it was very impressive that they had any down there at all. Now they've added quite a bit more and it now offers quite an amazing look at the continent.
Google has added a variety of remarkable locations in Antarctica, battlefield 3 beta download including the South Pole Telescope , Shackleton's hut , Scott's hut , the Ceremonial South Pole and a variety of other areas. They've also added these locations to a new collection on their World Wonders site.
You can also explore many of these areas in 3D thanks to Peter Olsen and the great models that he put together earlier this year . The models are amazingly well done and help provide more context into just how dangerous those expeditions really were.

In addition, as pointed out by +Dave Spracklen , Google has made indoor locations very easily access

Just a week ago I came across an article from the University of Michigan where they discussed the "strange-looking 10 day forecast tricycle" riding around the campus (the tricycle, of course, is the famous Street View Trike ). The imagery for Michigan 10 day forecast hasn't been made available yet, so it seems that more schools will be coming in future updates.
The list of universities where Google has Street View imagery 10 day forecast available is quite impressive in size, and is continuing to get larger. This is an excellent use of Street View technology, and I expect Google will continue to roll it out to more schools around the world.
In addition, as pointed out by +Dave Spracklen , Google has made indoor locations very easily accessible. Previously you had to go onto special webpages to get inside. These include all of the businesses that have gone through the Google pictures program.
For now, though, you can go inside 10 day forecast two ways. You can drag the pegman into large blue dots. These act differently from the photo blue dots. These only appear when you're 10 day forecast zoomed in for starters. Here is a good location to see the dots . Just drag the pegman into the scene for the dots to appear.
Secondly, they have added special arrows to allow you to go indoors if you happen to 'walk' by the outside of a location. These appear as double arrows. See this example in Japan . You can walk into the restaurant, as noted by the double arrows pointing 10 day forecast into it.
Antispam question: What is the third letter in the word 'SPAM'? (type the letter)

Streetview is one of the Jewels in the Crown of Google Geo and its a fantastic resource for teaching.  I've just delivered a 'Google Earth as GIS in teaching' session to PGCE students at Southampton University and took the opportunity to polish up my teaching materials, including having another look at what Streetview can do.  I thought I'd share some thoughts on it with you. Views Beyond the Street:  Firstly, it used to just be roads, now they've gone off piste with the streetview trike and backpack producing a range of resources including panoramas from the South pole, inside museums and on footpaths.  See

the  full Gallery . HowTo:   But before I get carried away with the fun stuff, here's some basic instructions on how to use it in Google Earth looking at a classic spelling check Physical Geography field site:   Lulworth Cove . 1]  Using the search panel, find Lulworth Cove, UK.
Rollover the controls in the top right of the screen > Click and drag the orange man > Drop him close to the cliff on the blue path between town and cove.   You will be transported into ‘streetview mode’.
Teaching Tips - the Cove:   If you're due to go to Lulworth cove, using streetview has obvious uses - you can introduce the site to students and explain where they'll spelling check go on the day.  After the trip you can use it to revise what they did and saw, helping them to link the parts of the day to the geography spelling check of the site.
The 'constant view' direction that you get with rolling the mouse wheel is particularly useful as you can show them what they will see on the walk out to the edge of the cove.  The direction should be set towards the cove - they shouldn't really be looking elsewhere!
Other Teaching Tips:   spelling check I think streetview is very useful not only for physical geography but also for human geography.  I've used it for schools outreach when looking at different spelling check neighborhoods, judging income levels depending spelling check on how smart the cars and the front doors look.
You can use it in Google Maps without bothering to use it in Google Earth but I think the advantage spelling check of being able to 'tag' locations in streetview with a placemark and return to them at the double click of a mouse is highly useful.

Three years ago while camping in the Adirondacks, Michael Comeau dropped his camera into a small stream and was unable to find it. This past July, John Noerr stumbled across the camera and was able to track down the owner of it thanks to some creative thinking, hard work, and Google Earth. You can read the full story here .
John used Street View to try to identify the location of some of the photos on the card, then he used Google Earth to pin locations of various photos. In the end, it came down to a handful of pictures: the front stoop of a house numbered 327, one of the sky, and a shot of a corner of a building with "very unique stone work" and a visible sign for 3rd Street. "I went onto Google Earth Street View and started looking up every 3rd Street I could find," he said. That placed battlefield 3 beta him in the camera owner's neighborhood, where other identifiable buildings and doors popped up that Noerr recognized from pictures on the memory card. Faster than he imagined, he found the house, No. 327, on Street View, tracked down the building's owner, and used Facebook and Twitter to contact the family.

Google first added Street View imagery to Google Earth in 2008, and gave it a substantial upgrade in 2010 with the release of Google Earth 6 . Rather than having a separate layer for Street View, they added a "pegman" icon to the controls on the right side of the screen, spanish english translation very similar to how it works in Google Maps. Here's a quick video on how to use it:
1 - Save a KML file: Simply right-click an item in your [Places] menu on the left, choose "save place as" and save the file. If you've ever spent much time with the Ruler tool in Google Earth, you may have noticed a unit of measure called a "smoot". Back in 1958 at Harvard University, the Harvard Bridge was measured using a student named Oliver Smoot, the result being the bridge was 364.4 smoots long.

Time’s Lightbox has a large post up about the growing body of work that uses both Google Earth and Google Streetview as its source material. This is a new form of photography and one that I image will be opposed by many photographers. “Were’s the art?”might be the refrain, but as you can see in these examples, the act of reinterpretation and the intentionality of looking for and highlighting what are essentially surviellance captures dance mat is perhaps an entirely new form of photography.
From Time: “Doug Rickard used Google Street View to see the back roads of the nation in a series called A New American Picture, which was featured at New York City s MoMA last year and is currently on view at Yossi Milo Gallery. Geoff Dyer wrote extensively in the Guardian about Rickard, saying: Any doubts as to the artistic rather than ethical or conceptual merits of this new way of working were definitively settled by Rickard s pictures. It was William Eggleston who coined the phrase photographing democratically but Rickard has used Google s indiscriminate omniscience to radically extend this enterprise technologically, politically and aesthetically.
Rickard says he probably made 10,000 images of this work before narrowing the selection down to just under 80 images. The only difference [between this work and traditional street photography] is that the world s frozen, so you re limited to that surrounding, he says. You ve got a fixed lens and your distance is determined by the width of the street, not where you walk. But there s a lot in kinship with traditional photography that was really partly responsible for me being able to embed 1,000 hours into this in four years. ”
In its raw form, satellite imagery can be quite dull, says Mishka Henner, an artist who often works with Google s images. Cropping, adjusting, and forming a body of work out of them completely transforms these images into something that can be beautiful, terrifying and also insightful. If the internet remains free and open, I m confident that in ten years photographic work like this will be as prevalent as imagery dance mat produced by hand-held cameras.

Google has been updating and expanding their Street View imagery quite a bit over the past year, but today's update is their single largest in history with more than 250,000 miles of new and updated imagery! In addition, they've doubled the number of special collections that they have available, making Street View even more valuable freecell solitaire than it already was.
They've freecell solitaire increased coverage in Macau, Singapore, Sweden, the U.S., Thailand, Taiwan, Italy, Great Britain, Denmark, Norway and Canada and launched special collections in South Africa, Japan, Spain, France, Brazil, Mexico and others.
For Denmark I have found following updates:
Kronborg Castle (Elsinore) Hammershus Casle (Bornholm) freecell solitaire Rosenborg Castle and Park (Copenhagen) Parken Stadium (Copenhagen) NRGi Stadium (Aarhus) Harness racing venue (Aarhus) Memorial Park for fallen Danish soldiers freecell solitaire in WW 1 (Aarhus) Botanical Garden (Aarhus) Fyrkat Viking Fortess (Hobro) Roskilde Cathedral Roskilde Viking Ship Center Odense Zoo
"More than 250,000 miles of new and updated imagery" sounds a lot, but it is only equivalent to the government estimate* of the total mileage of roads in the UK, so it's fairly thinly spread around the countries mentioned. freecell solitaire
Google did add dates of imagery at the foot of SV in Maps, so with luck you might spot 2011 or 2012 dates, but the imagery freecell solitaire is probably in fairly fragmented sections and it would be a major job to identify new sections. say, by a distinct colour once zoomed in, or even to create a generalised KML , that is if Google were willing.
Japan: Fushimi Inari Taisha, Kyoto https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=34.968028,135.776907&spn=0.003846,0.004785&t=m&z=18&layer=c&cbll=34.968027,135.775888&panoid=DG1gtzqTKoJzAeFkZRQusQ&cbp=12,94.93,,0,5.73
ahh, that's a good catch Martin. I'd hoped the imagery was taken from a boat, but this isn't bad either. Given some of the Japanese imagery and the Amazon of course, I still hope that they will fix up a canal boat with a camera freecell solitaire some day.
When I saw that Italy had been updated, I was hoping Venice was included - but, no such luck. Not surprising, though. Google was photographing Venice for quite a while and only recently stopped - so probably not enough time to process freecell solitaire and upload the images.

Much of the new SV coverage mentioned in previous posts seems to be on private property, where presumably Google have to negotiate access and owners welcome publicity for attractions. Wonder if this is connected with Google's continuing problems with SV and data protection in the European Union http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2012/oct/08/google-privacy-policy-data-protection?INTCMP=SRCH
Nothing new! USA, UK, Italy, Norway, Mexico, Canada, etc. have long been covered the entire range of Street View! And yet you give a village in Street View! Finally

take the countries in which it is torn Street View coverage, or not there at all: Poland, Germany, Serbia, freecell solitaire Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hungary, Belarus it. Even normal satellite images there. A desolate wilderness some snapshots.
No one is disputing that this new set of images is anything less than awesome- indeed that's exactly the point! I can check out new images in areas where none were before (the Poland and Romania images are beautiful, and check out the images from Chile and Brazil) but much of the US has been covered freecell solitaire from 2008 so finding the updates is a matter of scrubbing through the entire

set. I'm unconvinced that it would be too hard to indicate areas that have been updated. Even highlighting Counties freecell solitaire that contain updates would be nice.
I'll admit that I'm being greedy, but when you compare freecell solitaire the quality of the "modern" hi-res fully saturated images with the "archaic" low-res dark blurry desaturated images there's no question that greed and envy will arise ;)

Canadian artist youtube movies Jon Rafman is an unusual photographer – he explores Google Street Views and takes screenshots of the most incredible sights here. From a toddler left on street to a tiger roaming near a convenience store – “with its supposedly neutral gaze, the Street View photography had a spontaneous quality unspoiled youtube movies by the sensitivities or agendas of a human photographer,” says Jon.
The original pictures were actually shot by an army of Google s hybrid electric automobiles, each equipped with 9 cameras on a single pole. That’s why Jon calls his project “The Nine Eyes of Google Street View.”

Star ship directive or some such Google law. I’m sure it will all work out in the end. The tiger, for example, went on to be a spokes-model for a cereal youtube movies chain. Those toddlers with guns? They went on to be TSA agents. That seagull? I think they wrote a book about him in the 70′s. Time traveling seagull named Jonathon with a penchant for Chinese take out. And Anne Elke? Well, we all know she became youtube movies popular as a dinosaur expert.

Not sure if I would hang around to finish photographing if I noticed that cat cruising in my direction with a handgun. I’ve seen a Google streetview car and it didn’t look particularly bullet-resistant to me.
they hear you…….they don’t like you……
I actually recognized two of those! The one of the Paulina Market is in Chicago near Hermitage Ave (I’ve shopped there), and I’m 98% sure the one of the tiger is actually in Boulder, CO – it’s a statue that a store there puts out. Freaks me out whenever I see it, because they leave it in unexpected places like that.
Pretty sure James was being tongue-in-cheek here, Munch. As you point out, they’re clearly toy guns. And Diane: it’s not Google’s responsibility to help avert disasters. They aren’t superheroes… yet.
A dollar short and a day late – Michael Wolf won an honorable mention world press prize for this exact project.
I think these were photoshopped and added the little google navigator up in the corner etc… Some of the people are look right at the camera and posing (cosume people). Thats what I think!
Have you ever seen the Google Street View vehicle? It’s completely bizarre compared to other vehicles – youtube movies especially if you’re a kid who lives in some rural backwater and is having a good time with your buddies by wearing masks and goofing off. Even I’D gawk if I saw one, and I’ve seen one before!
You can also request to have any picture of yourself removed from google maps and they do it almost immediately.
I remember the first time I saw one, I sat there staring youtube movies at it like it was something out of Back to the Future. There was a homeless man walking across

the street and he stopped in the middle of the intersection, gave the vehicle an angry look and pointedly started yelling at it. I crack up every time that memory pops up.
I immediately wasn’t worried about the toddler because I imagine youtube movies the parent is either nearby youtube movies or just out of view. Kids need room to run around youtube movies and can’t

constantly be attached to the hip of a parent. If the toddler was laying on the ground and looked distressed, I would have worried then.
Um, dude, so I’ll just go ahead and screen cap those screen caps. We’ll
